Skill Alone Won't Build Your Business: Speaking at Cutera University
In 2026 I spoke to aesthetic practitioners at Cutera University about something every clinic owner needs to hear: being good at your craft isn't enough.
In 2026 I was invited to speak at Cutera University to aesthetic practitioners about something I believe every clinic owner needs to hear: being good at your craft isn't enough.
You can be the most skilled injector or skin therapist in the country and work incredibly hard. If you can't market yourself, build a brand and draw in an audience, that skill stays invisible.
What I talked about
- —Marketing to real concerns. Clients don't buy a treatment or a device. They buy a solution to something that's bothering them, so speak to that.
- —Marketing is not a luxury. Many owners treat it as something to spend on once they're busy. The reality is that investing in marketing is what makes you busy.
- —Building a campaign. Plan your marketing as a campaign with a clear message, not as random posts.
- —Buying devices as a business decision. Before you invest, know who it's for, how you'll market it and how it will pay for itself.
Why it matters
I started my cosmetics clinic with one bed in a rented room in regional Australia. Growing it into a team of eight came down to getting the business basics right alongside the clinical work.
That's the message I wanted every practitioner in the room to take home.
